SOLUTIONS - RANDOM RETURN (return to solutions menu)
It’s possible to relate each slot in the cabinet to a specific parking bay on site, however there may be a limited number of defined and numbered parking bays on site which is far lower than the number of slots in the combined key cabinets. It is therefore possible to implement a more general parking location system which works on the basis of areas instead. The following options give a flavour of what can be achieved:

  • Parking Module on the cabinet (Fixed Return)
Users are required to enter a coded location on the cabinet every time they return a key which is subsequently displayed to the next user to take the same key. This works well in a fixed return scenario but would be a limited option should Random Return functionality be adopted by the customer.

  • Colour coded cabinet regions (Random Return) Geographical Based Solution
Areas of the cabinet are colour coded and keys are placed in the colour coded areas corresponding to the general colour coded areas on the site and therefore the geographical location of the vehicle. If a key is found in the red colour coded area of the cabinet then, correspondingly, it can be found in the red colour coded area of the site. An appraisal of the site must be conducted to determine the best way to colour code specific areas – customer to forward a full site layout to iB in advance of installation in order to determine the most appropriate process to follow. Please see below for example of how the cabinets could be configured:

  • Colour coded cabinet regions (Random Return) Process Based Solution
Areas of the cabinet are colour coded and keys are placed in the colour coded areas corresponding to the stage of the process the vehicle has reached. If a key is found in the red colour coded area of the cabinet then, correspondingly, it is currently undergoing a service. An appraisal of the customer’s working procedures must be conducted to determine the best way to colour code specific steps of the process – customer to forward a full description of process to iB in advance of installation in order to determine the most appropriate process to follow. Please see below for example of how the cabinets could be configured:
